The deepest layer of the skin, the Hypodermis is often referred to as the subcutaneous tissue. It is an essential part of the body, acting as an insulator and shock absorber, making it the thickest layer of the skin.

All the fats in the body are stored in the Hypodermis but this layer is missing on areas of the body where the skin is at its thinnest such as on the eyelids.
