An antioxidant is any ingredient that fights and neutralises free radicals. The body produces its own antioxidants to prevent damage to the skin, as free radicals break down collagen in the skin which causes it to age prematurely. As we age however, our body no longer produces a sufficient amount of antioxidants to keep the skin looking young and healthy.
