While it is never a good idea to pop a spot there are times when you don’t seem to have any other option. If the pimple has developed a head then resist the urge to squeeze it as this will only cause internal damage to the pore as well as scarring and inflammation at the surface.
Instead take the corner of a washcloth or cotton bud soaked in hot water and lightly press it onto the spot, increasing the pressure as the temperature cools until it is no longer warm. Lightly move the washcloth or cotton bud from side to side and repeat with a clean corner or cotton bud until the pus has been extracted. Follow with a Salicylic Acid gel applied multiple times a day to clear out bacteria and seal the area until it has properly healed which generally takes a few days.
